Tuần này chính quyền sẽ thông qua việc mở rộng vĩnh viễn các con đường chỉ cho phép vận tốc 20mph.
Việc triển khai quy định tốc độ 20mph trên những con đường còn lại tại một quận ở South London đã được xác nhận. Các con đường này trước đây đều cho phép chạy với tốc độ 30mph. Người dân địa phương đã tỏ ra lo ngại về việc mở rộng giới hạn tốc độ, họ cho rằng việc này là không cần thiết và khiến người dân mất thời gian.
Nhưng Hội đồng Kingston đã quyết định bỏ qua mọi phản đối và chấp nhận việc mở rộng vĩnh viễn các con đường 20mph ở khu vực Kingston và North Kingston, cũng như phía nam của quận. Ủy ban khu phố The New and Old Malden cũng bỏ phiếu đồng ý với kế hoạch triển khai này.

Một số những lý do phản đối bao gồm việc người dân cho rằng kế hoạch là không cần thiết, gây ô nhiễm nghiêm trọng hơn, hội đồng phải tốn tiền thay đổi ký hiệu đường phố, người dân dễ nhầm lẫn...
Nhưng báo cáo cho thấy kế hoạch này được TfL tài trợ, do đó hội đồng địa phương sẽ không mất tiền cho việc chuyển đổi. Mục tiêu là giúp đường phố an toàn hơn, giảm kẹt xe, tăng cường chất lượng không khí. Với việc đi lại bằng phương tiện cá nhân ngày càng chậm, người dân có thể cân nhắc lựa chọn các phương tiện công cộng.

Khu vực Kingston và North Kingston:
Blenheim Gardens, Cambridge Road, Coombe Lane West, Coombe Rise, Coombe Road đoạn giữa Wolverton Avenue và Galsworthy Road, Ely Close, Galsworthy Road, Kingsnympton Park, Kingston Road đoạn giữa Cambridge Road và Georgia Road, London Road đoạn giữa Coombe Road và Kingston Hill, Lord Chancellor Walk, Lovekyn Close, Swallow Park Close và Wolsey Close.
Ủy ban khu phố Kingston & North Kingston cho rằng một phần Kingston Hill nên giữ nguyên vận tốc 30mph, do đó vận tốc ở khu vực Kingston Vale và Kingston Hill sẽ tiếp tục được bàn bạc và hiện giờ vẫn chưa quyết định.
